Is that true iPad could replace document camera in the classroom?

In recent times the Apple iPad has become commonplace in the classroom; when used effectively, they are a powerful teaching and learning tool. There are many videos that teach people how to use iPad as a document camera or document visualizer. One way to do this is to put books together, place the iPad on the top of books and turn on the camera. The true is this method make teaching and display real easy. For lecturers, they dont have to buy one document camera. But, is that true iPad could replace document camera in the classroom? The answer is no!

There are however many reasons why a teacher shouldn’t replace a document camera with an iPad.To show an object or image on the classroom display, the teacher will have to try and hold the device whilst annotating or moving and pointing out different parts of the image. The teacher has only one hand to demonstrate. In the booth, the visualizers don’t have this problem, they don’t need you to grab them, so they let the teacher have full mobility and free hands to show. And for one lesson, how many times should be spend on placing a iPad on the top of books?

One of the biggest reasons that a document camera is better than using an iPad is that many have an optical zoom. An iPad has a good camera but has digital zoom meaning that you will lose some picture quality when you zoom in. It is very important to know the difference between Optical and Digital ZoomAnd it wont be easy for teachers to touch the screen and adjust the angle for they have to worry about the falling of the iPad, right?

iPad may help teacher do a lot in the classroom and useful in a particular situation. But it could not replace a document camera. For example, QOMO Wireless document camera with the features of lightweight, affordable, and ultra-portable could be more convenient and powerful.
